Portland Bill

Portland Bill

Larger sizes - Comment at flickr.com

Photoblog: 13 May 2007

The lighthouse at the southern tip of the Isle of Portland, a lump of limestone in the English Channel, off the coast of Dorset. Converted to black & white with channel mixer, imitating a red filter. I thought it was way OTT, but the people of flickr deem it to be my most "interesting" shot.

Thanks y'all. This isn't my favourite of the blue filtered black and whites, it seems to be yours -- it shot up in interestingness far quicker than any others...

It is a good shot, but I find the off-vertical inclination slightly distracting: A two-degree clockwise turn would bring things into true

hiddendorset

2007-05-29 15:43:04

this is a fantastic shot of Portland Bill and as a local I can see why it has shot up the favourites list, the drama it gives the building is great. I would be interested in using this and other shots of yours in a project I manage called hidden dorset. This promotes the small, interesting, unusual, off the beaten track, and hidden side to Dorset, in an effort to support the small businesses characteristic of Dorset. If you would be interested in working with us then please contact wendy@hiddendorset.org. I would look forward to working with you.
