Portbury branch

The new Portbury branch from the Portishead Railway, taking freight from the Royal Portbury Dock. Taken from the Avonmouth Bridge. I liked the splashes of colour on the embankment.

It's not new exactly, just recently reopened. It would be good if they could reopen the final few miles into Portishead and start passenger services along it again.

I'm led to believe that this bit is new -- there was never a line down to the Portbury Dock before. It joins the original Portishead line just over the bridge, and the overgrown route of it is behind the fence middle right. Portishead Railway Group and Bristol & N.S. councils have been trying to get the rest reopened, but Network Rail are making excuses about cost and timetabling complications on a single track route used by freight trains which depend on the tides.

OK, the spur off into the docks is new, tyhe rest is just begging to be reopened.
