Stourhead

Stourhead is a 2,650 acre (11 kmÂ²) estate in south west Wiltshire at the source of the River Stour. The gardens were designed in the mid-18th century by the banker Henry Hoare II, who owned the estate. The lake was achieved by the construction of a dam accross the Stour. Since 1946 the estate has been owned by the National Trust and has been their second most visited property, behind Wakehurst, several years running.
